You Need to Know: De Gournay

De Gournay, a British luxury interiors company that specialize in hand painted wallpapers, fabrics, porcelain and hand-carved furniture.

One would expect the company to be over 100 years old, but it was created only in 1986. Since then it has revived once forgotten techniques and ancient traditions and collaborated with some of the most luxurious brands among them Chanel, Bergdorf Goodman, Moda Operandi, Christian Dior and The Ritz Hotel. It was used on invitations, galleries, table settings and all interior decor for the Met Gala's themed ball China: Through the Looking Glass. And just this season a collaboration with Aquazurra was launched.

Our artisans are artists. Our wallpapers, our fabrics and our dinner plates are works of art. In a hundred years time, they will be sold at auctions as valuable antiques. Each artist leaves a part of his soul in their creation, and it is this ‘spirit resonance’ that distinguishes our work from machine made replicas.
— Claud Cecil Gurney
