Building the Foundation for Great Spring Outfits

The temptation to start your new season shopping with expensive trendy items can leave you with a wardrobe that is hard to navigate and stand-alone pieces that make little difference on your day by day. So, before you take your credit card for a nice day out (or online extravaganza), think through and check your closet for the items that you go back to: updated basics, French girl classics, and those items you wear over and over again that are due to being renewed. Make a list of what is needed, imagine outfits and what would be missing, and I know not fun, set a budget.

No need to splurge here! Try to get as much for your buck as you can, and if necessary, decide what is a priority on your list, leaving out items you can live without. I usually narrow it down to online shopping at these 3 faves: Uniqlo, Cos, and Everlane. Add to cart on all of them at once and compare prices, value, styles. Delete from each cart what is overlapping and not needed. Voila! Hello, Spring wardrobe refresh!

I am especially loving Uniqlo U,  a collection of progressive essentials created by Christophe Lemaire, reinventing basics for your wardrobe, in addition to pieces from Everlane and Cos.
