Set upright on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from drafts, flowers, books, fabrics, children and pets; never leave burning unattended. Follow the candle label for each burn session, and stop with 1/2 in. of wax remaining. Extinguish without water and let the vessel and wax cool completely before moving or cleaning. Remove cooled residue gently for decorative reuse; do not scrape the gold edge or use the microwave or dishwasher. Hand wash the empty vessel with mild soap and a soft microfiber cloth, then dry carefully.

Maker / Heritage

Susan Gordon began her pottery business in a basement studio in 2013, bringing a background in ceramic sculpture and abstract painting to practical household objects. Her experience with paint still informs the gestures and surfaces of the work. In 2019 she opened a storefront and studio in Homewood, Alabama, where making and showing the pieces could sit together. The pottery passes through making, smoothing, glazing, gold decoration, sanding and a final check, with more than five pairs of hands and eyes involved. The hydrangeas outside her first garage studio became a recurring source of imagery, connecting the flowers of everyday life to the work of her hands.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0286/3244/9099/files/InstagramPosts_29_2619bbcb-6f71-44a8-aae0-6a87cd27a0be.jpg?v=1770664845
https://www.themayfairhall.com/products/bijou-soy-candle-in-gold-luster-stoneware-by-susan-gordon-pottery
