Cracks, grain and worn edges remain part of the surface, while the leg frame and cross stretchers support a form that is deliberately simple beneath it.

The 19.5-inch diameter and matching height make a compact accent beside seating. Choose objects with the center opening and irregular surface in mind, allowing the wood’s earlier purpose to remain visible.

“I would not try to disguise the opening in this old cartwheel. It is the detail that explains the piece; a small tray or an object with a well-supported base can make the top useful while leaving its character intact.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Product Details

Material: Reclaimed elm wood.

Dimensions: Approximately 19.5 H × 19.5 diameter in.

Included: One side table.

Design & Use: Reclaimed cartwheel top with a visible center axle opening and individual wear.

Curated by Canggu Home.

Care & Ownership

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth, working gently along the grain. Blot spills immediately and dry the surface fully; use coasters and protective mats beneath hot, cold or wet objects. Avoid harsh cleaners, abrasive pads and prolonged dampness. Keep the piece away from direct sunlight, heaters and strong air vents. Solid wood responds to changes in humidity, so small changes in grain and color are part of its character. Lift furniture when moving it rather than dragging the legs across the floor.

Maker / Heritage

Canggu Home grew from a family’s search for rooms with a quieter, more natural character. A visit to artisan workshops in Canggu, Bali, inspired the family’s approach in 2021, followed by direct sourcing from makers in China, Indonesia and Africa. The business is a curator: its interest is in material, workmanship and the way a piece belongs in a room. Visible grain, hand-worked irregularity and plainly expressed forms are part of that choice, with Japanese and Scandinavian influences brought together through texture rather than elaborate decoration.
