Ornament’s small porcelain salad bowl makes white-on-white relief its defining detail. Designed by Sam Baron with inspiration from the Vista Alegre Palace ceilings, the rounded serving form brings architectural decoration close to the table.
“I like relief that becomes clearer as the light moves across it; this bowl can bring texture to a table without asking for another color.”

Maker / Heritage
Founded in Ílhavo, Portugal, in 1824, Vista Alegre brings a living decorative tradition to the table. Its porcelain is glazed, fired and individually checked before decoration; the factory also maintains a specialist hand-painting workshop for selected artistic pieces. Collaborations with designers such as Oscar de la Renta and Sam Baron give that long history fresh expression, from finely drawn botanicals to architectural relief. It is this combination of technical care and imaginative decoration that gives the maker its distinctive range.
