Barthélemy Satin Cheese Knife and Mouchette with Ebony Handles by Forge de Laguiole - Set of 2

Sale price$349.00
Available to Ship Icon Available to Ship: 3-7 Business Days

Developed with French cheese professional Roland Barthélemy, this two-piece set gives the cheese board two distinct tools. The openwork knife blade and separate mouchette slicer pair satin stainless steel with dark ebony handles. The mouchette is intended for thin slices of firmer cheeses, while the knife brings a longer cutting edge to a varied cheese selection.

“I would place both tools beside a mixed cheese board, letting the slim slicer handle thin portions of a firm cheese while the knife serves the softer pieces.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Care & Ownership

Clean the metal promptly after use with mild dish soap and a soft, nonabrasive sponge, rinsing the metal under warm water while keeping the natural handle out of the water. Wipe the handle with a barely damp cloth and dry the entire piece immediately. Do not soak or put in the dishwasher. Keep in a dry box or fitted case, with pieces separated to protect the handles and metal finish. Keep the cutting edges protected in the fitted box; seek professional sharpening when needed.

Maker / Heritage

Forge de Laguiole works in the village of Laguiole on France’s Aubrac plateau, with its own forge and a workshop approach that continues through the finishing stages. The maker shapes and fits handles by hand, while its blades are forged, heat-treated and ground before final sharpening. Polishing is itself a choice: cotton or linen brings out a brighter surface, while nylon produces the quieter satin appearance. The familiar curved profile and small bee detail connect the traditional table knives to the region’s knife-making vocabulary. The Barthélemy cheese tools were developed with French cheese professional Roland Barthélemy, giving the knife and mouchette distinct roles at the cheese board.
