A carved picture frame with luminous mother-of-pearl tiles, the Chitra brings a small play of light to a photograph. Its mosaic catches the changing daylight without overwhelming the picture it surrounds.
The frame may stand on its easel or hang horizontally or vertically from its D-rings. Natural differences among the tiles give each example subtle individuality, a quality especially sympathetic to informal family photographs.

Care & Ownership
Dust the inlaid or carved surround with a soft, dry cloth. If necessary, use a barely damp cloth on the frame and dry promptly; avoid soaking, abrasive cleaners and prolonged moisture. Clean the glass separately with a soft cloth, keeping glass cleaner away from natural bone, horn and inlay.
Maker / Heritage
Founded by Manish Gupta and Ruchi Agrawal, Matr Boomie began in 2006 as Handmade Expressions and adopted its present name in 2013. Based in Austin, the design company works in partnership with artisan communities in India, bringing established craft traditions to objects intended for daily use.
Its picture frames reflect the patient skills of inlay and hand-carving, where small differences in natural material and handwork give each piece its individual character. The work combines practical modern fittings with the knowledge of the craftspeople who make the decorative surrounds.
