Copper Bread Box with Brass Handles by Galley & Fen

A fitted lid and polished brass loop handles give this copper bread box the presence of a considered kitchen object. Made to hold a standard loaf, it brings warm metal to the counter while keeping bread in one defined place, with no need to add another decorative container.

“A bread box earns its space in my view by being used every day. Let the loaf cool completely before closing the lid, so trapped warmth does not turn a useful covered space into a damp one.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Care & Ownership

Hand wash with mild soap, lukewarm water and a soft cloth or sponge. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately with a clean, soft towel. Avoid the dishwasher, soaking, scouring pads and abrasive cleaners. Store completely dry, with a soft cloth between pieces where needed to prevent scratches. Let bread cool completely before closing the lid. Brush out crumbs regularly and keep the inside dry; a clean bread bag can keep the loaf contained.

Maker / Heritage

Galley & Fen begins with the eye of an interior designer: founder Laurel Newton studied interior design and created the collection around the everyday objects she wanted in a home. The team develops its own designs, drawing on the useful forms of European vintage kitchens rather than simply reproducing an ornamental look. Its work with a family of artisans in India brings handmaking into those designs, with small variations that remain visible in the finished pieces. Gathered textile edges, embroidered botanical details and warm copper or brass give practical objects a presence of their own. The pleasure is in choosing something useful whose smallest details have also been considered.
