Encanto Amelia Pistachio Enameled Flower Picture Frame by Beatriz Ball - 4 in.

Pistachio enamel gives Amelia's flower-shaped surround a soft green character around the nominal four-inch photograph format. Gold-tone edges trace the aluminum-alloy petals, making the small image part of a broad decorative frame. The 7.5-inch overall form is boxed by the maker and suited to a desk, bedside or mantel.

“I would choose a photograph that feels lively and personal rather than formally posed. A small green flower frame is a lovely place for a favorite expression, given room enough that the picture does not disappear into the petals.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Maker / Heritage

Cuban-born designer Beatriz Ball began working with metal artisans outside Mexico City in 1991. Her signature metalware is still made one piece at a time in the brand’s own foundry in Mexico: sand casting gives the forms their character, and successive hand-polishing stages bring out the alloy’s silvery luster. More than twelve pairs of hands take part in the making. The appeal is that combination of expressive shape and useful purpose, with the warmth of handwork and none of silver’s routine tarnish polishing.

In the frames, the same attention to a shaped edge gives a personal photograph a considered setting. The metal surround is decorative in its own right without needing to dominate the image.
