Encanto Jason Camellia Enameled Picture Frame by Beatriz Ball - 5 x 7 in.

A broad Camellia enamel border brings a blush-pink surround to a 5-by-7-inch photograph. Jason's rectangular aluminum-alloy form is traced with a gold-tone rim, giving it a tailored shape despite the soft color. It makes a considered place for a portrait or personal photograph on a dresser, desk or bedside table.

“A personal photograph should still feel like a moment, rather than another decorative pattern. I like Camellia beside a plain lamp or a single small vase, where the picture and its soft pink border have room to be seen.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Maker / Heritage

Cuban-born designer Beatriz Ball began working with metal artisans outside Mexico City in 1991. Her signature metalware is still made one piece at a time in the brand’s own foundry in Mexico: sand casting gives the forms their character, and successive hand-polishing stages bring out the alloy’s silvery luster. More than twelve pairs of hands take part in the making. The appeal is that combination of expressive shape and useful purpose, with the warmth of handwork and none of silver’s routine tarnish polishing.

In the frames, the same attention to a shaped edge gives a personal photograph a considered setting. The metal surround is decorative in its own right without needing to dominate the image.
