English Copper Tea Kettle by Galley & Fen

Sale price$178.00
Available to Ship Icon Available to Ship: 3-7 Business Days

The English Copper Tea Kettle combines a compact copper body, fitted lid and raised brass handle in a six-cup water vessel. Its projecting spout gives the traditional silhouette definition. This is a kettle for heating water or for decorative display; the maker excludes food and acidic liquids.

“The distinction between a kettle and a cooking pot matters to me here. Heat plain water in it, then prepare tea or other drinks in the appropriate separate vessel rather than adding ingredients to the copper kettle.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Hand wash with mild soap, lukewarm water and a soft cloth or sponge. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately with a clean, soft towel. Avoid the dishwasher, soaking, scouring pads and abrasive cleaners. Store completely dry, with a soft cloth between pieces where needed to prevent scratches. Heat plain water only; do not heat food, milk, hot chocolate or acidic liquids in the kettle. Keep water in the body while heating and never let it boil dry. Use a dry protective mitt for hot metal parts. Prepare flavored drinks in a separate vessel.

Maker / Heritage

Galley & Fen begins with the eye of an interior designer: founder Laurel Newton studied interior design and created the collection around the everyday objects she wanted in a home. The team develops its own designs, drawing on the useful forms of European vintage kitchens rather than simply reproducing an ornamental look. Its work with a family of artisans in India brings handmaking into those designs, with small variations that remain visible in the finished pieces. Gathered textile edges, embroidered botanical details and warm copper or brass give practical objects a presence of their own. The pleasure is in choosing something useful whose smallest details have also been considered.
