Care & Ownership

Wipe the leather exterior with a soft, barely damp cloth and dry at once; use a dry soft cloth on pewter fittings. Clean the interior gently with a soft cloth and mild soapy water, keeping the leather from becoming saturated. Dry thoroughly with the lid off where applicable. Do not immerse, put in the dishwasher or use abrasive cleaners. Keep away from direct heat and prolonged sunlight, and protect the table beneath chilled pieces from moisture.

Maker / Heritage

Vagabond House began in 1986 by turning antique silver tableware into jewelry and table accents. The Haas and Hardy families focused the company on tableware after acquiring it in 2004, and three generations now contribute to the Sierra Madre, California business. Its designers look closely at nature, old architecture and antiques, then work with carvers, artisans and fabricators to bring those ideas into useful objects. In the pewter work, details such as the veins of an oak leaf or the textured skin of a pear are carved and polished into the form. That attention to small, recognizable things gives the pieces much of their character at the table.
