Herndon Tan Braided Jute Rug by Hauteloom
Herndon gives a plain tan rug its character through the close, braided texture of jute. Handwoven in India, the unprinted surface combines natural changes in fiber color with a clearly finished edge, creating a quiet foundation beneath wooden furniture, linen upholstery or a room with more pattern above the floor.
Rectangles and runners are available, with a 0.4-inch overall thickness. The natural-fiber surface is best considered for a dry indoor setting, where its texture can do the decorative work without the demands of a damp entrance or a splash-prone position.
“A plain rug still needs character, and I look for it in the way the fibers are worked. Herndon’s braided texture can give a room depth without another motif, particularly beside simpler upholstery and furniture with a lovely wood grain.”

Care & Ownership
Vacuum gently on the lowest suction setting without a beater bar, working from different angles. Blot spills promptly with a clean, undyed cloth, moving from the outside toward the center without rubbing or soaking the jute. Test any cleaner on a hidden area first. For persistent stains or a thorough clean, use a professional who specializes in natural-fiber rugs; avoid conventional dry cleaning with strong chemicals, which can damage or fade the fibers. Do not machine wash, steam-clean or soak.
Choose a dry indoor position, use a rug pad suited to the floor, and rotate periodically to distribute wear and light exposure. Lift rather than drag furniture across the surface. Never pull a raised yarn or allow a vacuum brush to catch it.
Maker / Heritage
Hauteloom’s roots are in Gaziantep, one of Anatolia’s great carpet-making centers. Founder Moe Ibrisim brought his knowledge of that trade to the United States in 2002. With his brother Nihad, an experienced rug professional in Turkey, he went on to open rug shops in Georgia before establishing Hauteloom in 2017. The background gives the brand a particular meeting of perspectives: Turkish rug knowledge, a close understanding of American rooms, and an interest in both the familiar language of pattern and the texture of natural fibers.
Herndon is handwoven in India, with the braided jute structure supplying the pattern instead of a printed design. Its natural tone and worked surface allow texture to play the decorative role.
