Kachhua Oval Horn & Brass-Inlay Picture Frame by Matr Boomie — 4 × 6 in

The Kachhua oval picture frame has an especially pleasing combination of organic pattern and fine metalwork. Natural horn creates the variegated cream-and-tan surface, while restrained brass inlay adds a glint of definition to the oval silhouette.

Designed around a 4 × 6 inch photograph, the frame is equally appealing on a desk, narrow shelf or side table. The irregular markings of the horn mean that no two surrounds appear quite the same; that individual character is part of its appeal.

"An oval frame can soften a room full of straight lines. I am drawn to Kachhua's gentle silhouette and the small brass accents, which bring the photograph a little richness without making it feel formal."

-Mrs. Mayfair

Maker / Heritage

Founded by Manish Gupta and Ruchi Agrawal, Matr Boomie began in 2006 as Handmade Expressions and adopted its present name in 2013. Based in Austin, the design company works in partnership with artisan communities in India, bringing established craft traditions to objects intended for daily use.

Its picture frames reflect the patient skills of inlay and hand-carving, where small differences in natural material and handwork give each piece its individual character. The work combines practical modern fittings with the knowledge of the craftspeople who make the decorative surrounds.
