Care & Ownership
Hand wash with mild soap, lukewarm water and a soft cloth or sponge. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately with a clean, soft towel. Avoid the dishwasher, soaking, scouring pads and abrasive cleaners. Store completely dry, with a soft cloth between pieces where needed to prevent scratches. For bottled-drink or decorative arrangements, protect furniture from moisture with a suitable tray or mat and support the base when lifting a loaded tub. Keep acidic foods and drinks from direct contact with copper.
Maker / Heritage
Galley & Fen begins with the eye of an interior designer: founder Laurel Newton studied interior design and created the collection around the everyday objects she wanted in a home. The team develops its own designs, drawing on the useful forms of European vintage kitchens rather than simply reproducing an ornamental look. Its work with a family of artisans in India brings handmaking into those designs, with small variations that remain visible in the finished pieces. Gathered textile edges, embroidered botanical details and warm copper or brass give practical objects a presence of their own. The pleasure is in choosing something useful whose smallest details have also been considered.
