Milk Bottle Stoneware Match Striker by Farmhouse Pottery
The narrow neck and rounded shoulders of a milk bottle become a small stoneware match striker. Strike-anywhere matches stand within reach of the specially blended clay surface, while white glaze and an exposed base connect this fireside detail to Farmhouse Pottery’s tableware.
“A match striker earns its place, to my eye, when it can sit beside the candleholder without crowding the table.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Keep matches dry and out of children’s reach. Use only strike-anywhere matches with the striker, following the match packaging directions; strike away from your body and nearby flammable objects. Maker / Heritage
Founded in Woodstock, Vermont, in 2012, Farmhouse Pottery brings a working potter’s eye to everyday housewares. Founder James Zilian’s training in ceramics and years designing for Simon Pearce inform the restrained shapes; English studio pottery and the Japanese idea of wabi-sabi inform an affection for visible process and small variations. The signature Silo forms take their lines from Vermont’s farm silos, pairing white glaze with revealed clay. From that starting point, the collection extends into complementary tools and textiles, chosen to make a useful, tactile whole at home.
