Blue and natural linen yarns create Opal’s woven plaid, giving the pattern a textured edge where the colors meet. The check appears on both sides of the cover, with an invisible zipper and serged edges keeping the outline simple. Available in square and lumbar proportions, Opal brings an orderly grid to a group of flowing florals while retaining the character of the woven yarns.

“A woven plaid appeals to me beside a printed floral because the patterns are made in different ways. Opal provides the straight lines, while the floral can supply a freer shape without the two needing to match.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Care & Ownership

Spot clean rather than washing the whole cover. Blot a fresh spill promptly with a clean white cloth. Test a hidden area before treating a mark, then use a barely damp cloth and a little mild soap if needed; avoid rubbing or saturating the fabric. Blot away moisture and let the treated area air-dry fully in the shade before replacing the insert. Do not soak, bleach or tumble-dry. Keep strong direct sunlight from falling on the same area continuously.

Remove and replace the insert gently, supporting the zipper opening rather than forcing a folded insert against its ends. Close the zipper before storing a clean, dry cover, and fold it loosely away from damp and direct light.

Maker / Heritage

Danielle Oakey began her pillow shop in a two-bedroom apartment, building the collection around her interest in fabrics and the combinations they can make. Her approach considers the relationship between covers: the scale of a floral, the clear line of a stripe, and the texture of a weave. The collection brings together hand-block printed fabrics from India and woven textiles, including Lithuanian linens. Interior designers also work with the shop through its trade program. That attention to combining rather than matching gives the covers their usefulness: individual patterns can keep their own character while still belonging in the same room.
