Pheasant Pewter Food and Ice Tongs by Vagabond House

Sale price$144.00

Sculpted pheasants form the pewter handles of these scissor-style food and ice tongs. One spoon-shaped tip meets a fork-shaped tip, giving the utensil a distinct working profile as well as the bird detail at the grip.

“Tongs should be reached without leaning over the food. I would add a small resting dish so a wet utensil does not have to go back on the tablecloth.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Care & Ownership

Hand wash with mild dish soap, warm water and a soft cloth or sponge. Rinse and dry immediately, reaching gently into sculpted details. Avoid abrasive pads, harsh cleaners and silver polish; the maker's solid pewter does not need routine tarnish polishing. Keep out of the dishwasher, oven and microwave, and away from direct cooking heat.

Maker / Heritage

Vagabond House began in 1986 by turning antique silver tableware into jewelry and table accents. The Haas and Hardy families focused the company on tableware after acquiring it in 2004, and three generations now contribute to the Sierra Madre, California business. Its designers look closely at nature, old architecture and antiques, then work with carvers, artisans and fabricators to bring those ideas into useful objects. In the pewter work, details such as the veins of an oak leaf or the textured skin of a pear are carved and polished into the form. That attention to small, recognizable things gives the pieces much of their character at the table.
