Care & Ownership
Remove the tissue box before washing. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with mild detergent, protecting embroidery in a mesh bag. Reshape while damp and air-dry completely. Press lightly from the reverse over a clean towel, avoiding flattening the stitching, and refit only when fully dry. Avoid bleach and harsh stain removers.
Maker / Heritage
Jacaranda Living began with a basket of samples. After moving from South Africa to Massachusetts, needlework enthusiast Cathy Deale offered to show local Zulu embroiderers’ linens to shops in Boston and Wellesley. The first orders, and then the reorders, gave the work a new audience. Cathy and Martin Deale founded the company in 2004, naming it for South Africa’s lilac-flowering jacaranda tree. The business now works with producers in several countries, using both hand and machine embroidery. Its character remains in the small textile details: a botanical motif, an open hemstitch or a border that makes an ordinary household piece feel considered.
