A loop-handled stoneware base and clear glass cylinder give the Silo Taper Hurricane its old-fashioned candlestick character. The glass frames the flame without obscuring it. Medium and Large heights suit different table scales, with holder-only options or configurations that include a pair of appropriately sized white tapers.

“Repeating one hurricane height along a dining table would be my choice, leaving flowers and serving pieces to supply the variation.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Care & Ownership

Remove the glass shade only when the candle and holder are completely cool. Hand wash the shade with mild soap and a soft sponge, rinse and dry carefully; avoid sudden temperature changes. Clean the stoneware base separately and dry fully before reassembling. Never heat the assembled holder in an oven or microwave.

Place upright in a correctly sized, stable, heat-resistant holder on a protected surface, away from drafts, curtains, children and pets. Trim the wick to about 1/4 in. before lighting. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep the wax pool free of debris, extinguish before the flame reaches the holder and let wax cool fully before handling. For an outdoor gathering, use a sheltered, level position and bring the holder inside afterward.

Maker / Heritage

Founded in Woodstock, Vermont, in 2012, Farmhouse Pottery brings a working potter’s eye to everyday housewares. Founder James Zilian’s training in ceramics and years designing for Simon Pearce inform the restrained shapes; English studio pottery and the Japanese idea of wabi-sabi inform an affection for visible process and small variations. The signature Silo forms take their lines from Vermont’s farm silos, pairing white glaze with revealed clay. From that starting point, the collection extends into complementary tools and textiles, chosen to make a useful, tactile whole at home.
