Tulip Potelé Stoneware Vase by Susan Gordon Pottery

Sale price$136.00
Available to Ship Icon Available to Ship: 3-7 Business Days

A rounded body and small neck give the Potelé vase its pleasingly full silhouette. Hand-painted tulips climb the glazed stoneware, with a 22K gold-luster edge adding a fine line around the opening rather than distracting from the flowers.

“The rounded body suggests an easy companion for a tall, straight object on a shelf. I would keep the fresh stems light and loose so they do not hide the painted tulips.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Change flower water regularly, support the body when emptying and protect the surface beneath the vase from moisture.

Maker / Heritage

Susan Gordon began her pottery business in a basement studio in 2013, bringing a background in ceramic sculpture and abstract painting to practical household objects. Her experience with paint still informs the gestures and surfaces of the work. In 2019 she opened a storefront and studio in Homewood, Alabama, where making and showing the pieces could sit together. The pottery passes through making, smoothing, glazing, gold decoration, sanding and a final check, with more than five pairs of hands and eyes involved. The hydrangeas outside her first garage studio became a recurring source of imagery, connecting the flowers of everyday life to the work of her hands.
