Vida Bamboo White and Natural Melamine Oval Serving Platter by Beatriz Ball - Large

A long white serving area and a natural-colored bamboo border give this large oval Vida platter an easy relationship with both plain and patterned dinnerware. Its 19-by-13-inch format accommodates food arranged in a broad layer, from vegetables to a selection of sandwiches. The August Wren collaboration is rendered in melamine for use at indoor meals and outdoor gatherings.

“I think a generous platter should make the food easier to share, not simply hold more of it. Leaving space between the servings keeps each one easy to lift and lets the bamboo border frame the arrangement.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Care & Ownership

Wash on the top rack of the dishwasher, or by hand with mild detergent and a soft sponge. Presoak dried food in warm water so it lifts without hard scrubbing; avoid abrasive pads and cleaners. Do not use in an oven or microwave. Dry before stacking, and place pieces gently together to protect the modeled rims.

Maker / Heritage

Cuban-born designer Beatriz Ball began working with metal artisans outside Mexico City in 1991. Her signature metalware is still made one piece at a time in the brand’s own foundry in Mexico: sand casting gives the forms their character, and successive hand-polishing stages bring out the alloy’s silvery luster. More than twelve pairs of hands take part in the making. The appeal is that combination of expressive shape and useful purpose, with the warmth of handwork and none of silver’s routine tarnish polishing.

For Vida Bamboo, Ball collaborated with illustrator August Wren, translating the familiar rhythm of bamboo canes into a lighthearted border for everyday melamine.
