Vida Bamboo White and Natural Melamine Salad Serving Bowl by Beatriz Ball - Large

The Vida Bamboo large salad bowl frames a generous white serving space with a natural-colored bamboo motif. Its 14-inch width and four-inch height suit a salad for the table, while the melamine construction makes it useful for meals carried outdoors. Created with illustrator August Wren, the border supplies pattern through its shape and coloring rather than an all-over print.

“A salad looks freshest to me when it reaches the table lightly arranged, with a clean rim around it. This generous white bowl gives the leaves room, while the bamboo edge provides all the decoration they need.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Care & Ownership

Wash on the top rack of the dishwasher, or by hand with mild detergent and a soft sponge. Presoak dried food in warm water so it lifts without hard scrubbing; avoid abrasive pads and cleaners. Do not use in an oven or microwave. Dry before stacking, and place pieces gently together to protect the modeled rims.

Maker / Heritage

Cuban-born designer Beatriz Ball began working with metal artisans outside Mexico City in 1991. Her signature metalware is still made one piece at a time in the brand’s own foundry in Mexico: sand casting gives the forms their character, and successive hand-polishing stages bring out the alloy’s silvery luster. More than twelve pairs of hands take part in the making. The appeal is that combination of expressive shape and useful purpose, with the warmth of handwork and none of silver’s routine tarnish polishing.

For Vida Bamboo, Ball collaborated with illustrator August Wren, translating the familiar rhythm of bamboo canes into a lighthearted border for everyday melamine.
