Vida Bloom White Melamine Serving Bowl by Beatriz Ball - Large

The large Vida Bloom bowl carries the rippling shape of petals into white melamine. Designed through Beatriz Ball's collaboration with ceramicist Gretchen Murchison, its irregular outline gives a generous serving of salad or fruit a sculptural frame. The practical material makes the floral form useful for meals carried outdoors as well as the dining room.

“A generous bowl is most inviting to me when the food is easy to lift and share. Bloom's open, rippling edge gives a simple salad its own setting, with the rim left visible around it.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Care & Ownership

Wash on the top rack of the dishwasher, or by hand with mild detergent and a soft sponge. Presoak dried food in warm water so it lifts without hard scrubbing; avoid abrasive pads and cleaners. Do not use in an oven or microwave. Dry before stacking, and place pieces gently together to protect the modeled rims.

Maker / Heritage

Cuban-born designer Beatriz Ball began working with metal artisans outside Mexico City in 1991. Her signature metalware is still made one piece at a time in the brand’s own foundry in Mexico: sand casting gives the forms their character, and successive hand-polishing stages bring out the alloy’s silvery luster. More than twelve pairs of hands take part in the making. The appeal is that combination of expressive shape and useful purpose, with the warmth of handwork and none of silver’s routine tarnish polishing.

Bloom grew from Ball’s collaboration with Louisiana ceramicist Gretchen Murchison. Its rippling, petal-like outlines bring the movement of a ceramic form to practical serving pieces.
