Vida Faenza Blue and White Melamine Salad Plates by Beatriz Ball - Set of 4

Blue pattern at the rim and center gives the Vida Faenza salad plates the decorative character of painted tableware in practical melamine. Each nine-inch plate is a useful size for a starter, dessert or smaller lunch. The set of four can be paired with plain white dinner plates or the matching Faenza dinner service for meals indoors and outside.

“When the cloth and flowers are lively, I like a patterned salad plate with a plain main plate beneath it. Faenza's blue-and-white detail can then be enjoyed as one part of the setting, with room around it.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Care & Ownership

Wash on the top rack of the dishwasher, or by hand with mild detergent and a soft sponge. Presoak dried food in warm water so it lifts without hard scrubbing; avoid abrasive pads and cleaners. Do not use in an oven or microwave. Dry before stacking, and place pieces gently together to protect the modeled rims.

Maker / Heritage

Cuban-born designer Beatriz Ball began working with metal artisans outside Mexico City in 1991. Her signature metalware is still made one piece at a time in the brand’s own foundry in Mexico: sand casting gives the forms their character, and successive hand-polishing stages bring out the alloy’s silvery luster. More than twelve pairs of hands take part in the making. The appeal is that combination of expressive shape and useful purpose, with the warmth of handwork and none of silver’s routine tarnish polishing.

The Vida collection carries that attention to serving shapes into melamine, with sculptural rims and generous forms made for relaxed meals indoors and out.
